EMOTION—in BLACK & WHITE and COLOR: 15 PHOTOGRAPERS at the Terrain Gallery [ to return click here ] |

Dan McClung, Navajo Weaver I have found that when I am inspired to photograph something, it is always the opposites, in a particular relation, at a particular moment, that have taken me. As I frame a subject in the viewfinder, deciding what to omit and what to include, how close to get, or what angle may be best, I am consciously aware of how the opposites are present—how light and shadow reveal emotion in a face, how closeness and distance are in a landscape, and I am always thrilled at seeing the mystery in any object, no matter how ordinary it may be. —DM |
