DALE LAURIN, Look Within

This is a moving composition of light and dark. The photographer’s choice to take the image at an angle is visually vital as it connects the upper right corner of the opening with the rising diagonal of the light on the boxes within.

That triangle of glowing light going deep within ennobles the plain cardboard boxes, coloring them a rich golden bronze, while the shadow brings out their mystery. This photograph has an important message, I feel, not to sum up where meaning and beauty can be found.

Mr. Laurin and I attended The Honoring Eye class. His image is a testament to what Nancy Starrels taught: the job of a photographer is to use our eyes to honor what is before us, which represents, as Aesthetic Realism explains, the world we are born to honestly like.
